About & On Last Night

i was able to spend some time chatting on the phone with a dear friend after work. i did this while poking about outside starbucks, getting a lovely, but appreciatively distant view of the downtown hullabaloo over st. patty’s day. the first warm day since winter arrived here in Indy, it was welcome to stand outside shooting the breeze (both literally and figuratively) for a bit before heading home.

once home, i popped some delightful rosemary & sage chicken in the oven, and poured myself the first cocktail.

i had two more after that, post dinner.

let me tell you, folks, it does not take very much to get me tipsy anymore, and these drinks did the trick. i was the most relaxed i’ve been all week, and it was a cheeky, warming buzz i thoroughly enjoyed.

i discovered a brat pack movie i’d never seen on netflix, and settled in to watch it while shannon took out his new wheels for his rollerblades and shot the puck about for a bit.

the movie was the perfect blend of 80’s cheesiness: over the top tuneage at the most poignant moments, pink and blue lighting, with cliche yet honest phrasing sprinkled throughout: “I’m gonna let you guys do what you guys gotta do. Don’t worry about me, I’m just gonna go home, make a little macaroni and cheese, seal the windows, and turn on the gas.”

my night was very nice, and i felt like sharing, in its humble mediocrity.
