writing the whole red world

sometimes it’s really nice to be reminded. 

i have this box. painted a deep, dark red, it looks like a book, but is not.

it was sent to me, filled with treasures sacred to my heart. a captured leaf, a beautiful letter, and a variety of masterfully executed mixed cd’s. the box came from my one and only. (this is a true statement because i’ve only fallen in love once, and this is my first serious relationship)

today, it is used to hold all of the tiny and sometimes large notes and letters penned by him, as small tokens of affections towards me, the she. i hoard them, and the box is becoming much too full. 

“Thank you for sitting through all three hours of Heat with me. To most folks, these are deeds unworthy of the prizes I wish I could give you, but to me, they’re small miracles I receive from the only angel I’ve seen in person.”

so on some days, if i’m feeling a little morose, even if about nothing in particular, i pull this book-box off the shelf and am reminded of small sweet nothings that were written only for me. something about this image blogged by artpixie captured all of those notions beautifully.
